System Of A Down and Ozzfest 2011 a perfect combination

As the leaked System Of A Down US tour dates (click HERE) seem to indicate the band only playing in select US markets, the bands European tour schedule reveals something else that is interesting:

6/2/11 - Italy, Milan @ Milan Fiera Arena (AVAILABLE NOW)
6/4/11 - Germany, Nurnberg @ Rock im Park (AVAILABLE NOW)
6/5/11 - Germany, Nurburgring @ Rock am Ring (AVAILABLE NOW)
6/6/11 - France, Paris @ Omnisports de Bercy - SOLD OUT
6/8/11 - France, Paris @ Omnisports de Bercy - SOLD OUT
6/9/11 - Switzerland, Interlaken @ Greenfield Festival (AVAILABLE NOW)
6/11/11 - UK, Castle Donington @ Download Festival (AVAILABLE NOW)
6/13/11 - Austria, Nickelsdorf @ Novarock (AVAILABLE NOW)
6/15/11 - Germany, Berlin @ Wuhlheide - SOLD OUT
6/17/11 - Sweden, Gothenburg @ Metaltown Festival (AVAILABLE NOW)
6/19/11 - Finland, Seinajoki @ Provinssirock (AVAILABLE NOW)
6/21/11 - Russia, Moscow @ Olympisky (AVAILABLE NOW)

It reveals that the band still does not have any conflicting dates with last years Ozzfest tour schedule:

August 14 – San Bernardino, CA @ San Manuel Amphitheater
August 17 – Chicago, IL @ First Midwest Bank Amp.
August 19 – Pittsburg, PA @ First Niagara Pavilion
August 21 – Hartford, CT @ Comcast Theater
August 22 – Camden, NJ @ Susquehanna
August 24 – Boston, MA @ Comcast Center

SoaD could play the San Bernadino area twice this year if Ozzfest decides to tour at all in that area. A hunch tells me that the dates that are leaked so far will not include a trip east to NY or Boston. There will likely be dates added or they will play the other cities on another tour. While we have not heard any rumors at all about Ozzfest this year, I still think it is likely for SoaD to play on Ozzfest 2011 if that tour does indeed happen.

I discussed Ozzfest 2011 possible band line ups earlier. You can click HERE to read the article.

  1. One thing to remember about SOAD is they practically bankrupt Ozzfest 2007 with their high salary ($325,000 USD per show). That led to the one-off "free" Ozzfest in 2008. While Ozzfest needs a big drawing act especially if they keep to the format of 6-8 shows, the demand for SOAD will never be higher as will the cost. You can also make a case that SOAD needs Ozzfest a little too. It will be really interesting to see how it all plays out.
