Josh Freese sitting out A Perfect Circle's summer dates.

Blabbermouth.net is reporting that session drummer supreme Josh Freese will sit out A PERFECT CIRCLE's live shows this summer due to his touring commitments with WEEZER. Sitting behind the kit for A PERFECT CIRCLE's upcoming dates will be Jeff Friedl (ASHES DIVIDE, DEVO).

A PERFECT CIRCLE guitarist Billy Howerdel told FreeGotham.com in a recent interview that the band now has definite plans to record a new album, saying, "[It is] in the works, but not for this summer. I think the idea was to try and get the juices flowing a bit and get back into [A PERFECT CIRCLE] mode a bit and go from there. See what happens in the New Year. We have intentions of recording new material."

As for whether any new tunes will be previewed on the band's upcoming tour, Howerdel said, "We are gonna hear at least a song, I would say. One of them is very, very close to being done. And from there, things could come together once we get on the road and start hashing through some of the other ideas and they could quickly become a song and find their way onto the live stage."

A PERFECT CIRCLE is touring North America for the first time in six years this summer. The tour kicked off with a May 22 headlining appearance at the Rock On The Range festival in Columbus, Ohio, before the main schedule begins on June 29 in Portland, Oregon.

These will be the band's first live dates since a mini-tour they did last fall, in which they played each of their three studio albums over the course of three nights in five cities.
