NoiseCreep.com recently interviewed Def Leppard guitarist Phil Collen about touring with other bands:
Q: The last time US audiences saw Def Leppard was on a joint headline tour with POISON. HEART are a very different kind of band. Are you trying to tap into an audience from multiple generations?
A: "Not really, because we do that anyway. It really came down to who was available. We wanted to have someone with a big catalog of hits. That's worked well for a few years. We went out with Poison, JOURNEY, BRYAN ADAMS, BILLY IDOL, STYX. And Heart seemed to fit the bill.

Def Leppard talk about upcoming live album
Reuters recently conducted an interview with Def Leppard regarding their upcoming live album. Here is an excerpt from that interview:
British rockers DEF LEPPARD are hitting the road this summer to support their first ever live album which aims to cement the band's reputation as one of rock's top touring acts 34 years into its career.
"It's the first time we've taken stock of what we've done and delivered the live album fans have been asking for, for years," lead singer Joe Elliott told Reuters.
Def Leppard chose the tracks for its new Mirrorball from among 45 shows on its 2008-09 tour to support recent studio album, "Songs from the Sparkle Lounge."
Def Leppard, whose upcoming tour begins June 7 in Belfast and includes at least 42 US dates, said the record shows how much tighter they've become since joining the ranks of rock superstars in 1983 with the diamond certified Pyromania.
"We couldn't sing back then," guitarist Phil Collen said.
The band is known for its obsessive perfectionism and long recording process in the studio -- it took 3 1-2 years to make 1987's Hysteria. Yet, for Mirrorball the members decided to include songs that had some imperfections to keep a feeling of "live" authenticity.
While it is billed as a live album, Mirrorball"slips in three new studio songs: 'Undefeated', which Elliott called a "classic arena rock anthem," 'It's All About Believin'' and 'Kings of the World'. The new album's release date has yet to be determined, but will be available before the tour starts.

Def Leppard to release official Steve Clark tribute shirt
Def Leppard have issued the following update:
"This year, we want to do something special on Steve Clark's birthday. As most of you know, Steve was Def Leppard's co-founding guitarist from the late 70s to 1991, and would have turned 51 on April 23. Unfortunately, Steve passed at the age of 30 from an accidental overdose of prescription drugs and alcohol.
To pay tribute to Steve, we are releasing a special t-shirt soon. This shirt, of which you can see the design on the left, will only be available through Def Leppard's online store, and only for a very limited time. Also, in order to keep it exclusive, we will only produce the shirt in limited quantities. To be sure that you get your shirt, please enter your email address here. This will guarantee that you will be notified first as soon as we take orders, and you won't miss out."
