Former Anthrax singer Dan Nelson has launched another new band in the form of the Levittown (Long Island) New York group Farewell to Washington. Joining forces with Dan “Shaggy” Hoffman and Joe Post in what Nelson calls a rock/blues/punk/metal/hardcore/fun band. The band will record its first demo next week and Nelson says of the project:
“People should expect very little from us, as we expect even less from ourselves.”
Nelson was the singer of Anthrax from 2008 to early 2009 and performed several headline gigs, opening shows for Iron Maiden in addition to recording an albums worth of new material that was to be called Worship Music. The band has since reunited with Joey Belladonna (after courting John Bush first) and is re-working the Nelson recordings with Belladonna for a late 2011 release.
Nelson has kept busy with his full time thrash band Blackgates featuring Paul Bostaph of Testament and Slayer fame on drums, Jeremy Epp on guitars and Uriah Duffy (Whitesnake) on bass. He also recorded a duet with Long Island metallers Dormitory Effect on their 2010 record About Time called “Hand That Feeds".
