Cold to return after six year absence, new album and tour.

As reported by Blabbermouth.net hard rockers Cold will return after a six year layoff this July 19th with their new album Superfiction (Eleven Seven Music). The bands' fifth album contains ten songs including the just released single “Wicked World”

Cold was one of the top commercial heavy rock acts of the late 1990's early 00's. With Scooter Ward's deft vocal ability and the bands' whisper to a scream dynamics they had several minor hits, memorable videos and toured constantly over America and Europe. Few may recall that Ward's vocal prowess is indirectly responsible for the success of Staind, whose Aaron Lewis made stylist changes in his singing and songwriting upon hearing Cold.

When asked how the new album title came about, Ward said in a recent interview:

"If you're a COLD fan, I know that listening to our music in the past, it really touches people, they are able to take their own... The way I write is kind of vague to where anyone can kind of adapt their own relationship to the song after listening to it a few times. On this record, I wanted to kind of branch out away from personal issues on songs — I think way too many bands are doing that nowadays, and we've done it in the past — and I wanted to experiment a little bit and just write these really vivid, grand stories. Of course there's emotion in the stories to where you can still have that COLD effect from the songs, but at the same time it can take to another place. And 'Superfiction' is really... the definition is art coming to life in front of you, and that's kind of what we wanted these songs to do — we wanted you to put the record on, sit back, close your eyes, and let it take you to another place, literally. And it's kind of funny, when we named it that, I was, like, hopefully that really happens. And to us, playing these songs live and stuff and being so attached to them for the last year, I kind of started believing all the stories myself — so they actually seem real to me at this point [laughs] — to where when the things happen in the songs, it seems it's part of our life and we've connected like that with them."

COLD released its self-titled debut album in the summer of 1998. After steadily building a solid touring base, the band returned in 2000 with its sophomore effort, "13 Ways to Bleed on Stage", which peaked at #1 on Billboard's Heatseekers chart and brought the band its first appearance within the Top 100 on The Billboard 200 chart. In 2003, COLD scored its biggest hit to date with "Stupid Girl" (co-written by WEEZER's Rivers Cuomo, with uncredited guest harmony vocals by Aaron Lewis) off "Year of the Spider". The smash single went to #4 at Mainstream Rock and #6 at Modern Rock. "Year of the Spider" went all the way to #3 on The Billboard 200 chart, followed by "A Different Kind of Pain" in 2005, which went to #26 on the same chart.
