Lacuna Coil fansite www.EmptySpial.com allowed fans to ask band members questions pertaining to material set to appear on the new album:
Lacuna Coil have answered more questions submitted by fans through Emptyspiral! Here are this weeks answers to your questions..
Any 'concept' for the album?
ANDREA: No concept. Just a collection of songs inspired by all of the events that we have experienced in the past couple of years. For some of us, it was some really dark times.
Is the direction still "Heavier and Darker" or has it changed since ?
ANDREA: Absolutely, some stuff is pretty tight, probably the heaviest we have ever written. But then we have some cool songs with a dark “oldschool” vibe, and then some other rocking songs which are a bit more modern and anthemic sounding.
CRISTINA: I just want you all to listen to it ‘cause I think the old fans will be pleased as well as the new fans. The collection of songs are the perfect balance between an older and a newer style of rock metal - with a heavy punch and melancholic shadows.
It's hard to describe music… I hope you can just enjoy the trip with us!

Lacuna Coil begins recording for a new album
Lacuna Coil has entered a studio in Italy to begin recording material for their next album, slated for release in the fall of 2011. Producer Don Gilmore is producing again.
"This time around music has been our refuge from some of the darkest days of our life and that's why the new songs have such a variety of feelings... some stuff is pretty angry, probably the heaviest we've ever written, some other songs are intense, loaded with velvet dark emotions and there's even a little space for some light at the end of the tunnel,”, says Lacuna Coil's male vocalist Andrea Ferro.
"People are asking me if we're going back to our roots or if we're taking another step forward in a new direction... Well, to be honest I just feel that this is 100 percent a Lacuna Coil record and that is what really matters to me. I just love the songs and we felt a big wave of inspiration. The energy with Don in the studio is sky-high and we're ready to kick some ass."
"Collectively, we did so much in between 'Shallow Life' and this one," adds Lacuna Coil's female vocalist Cristina Scabbia. "We have lots of different experiences between us. We've been loved and hurt, we grew up, we shrunk inside a little keeping ourselves together and our roots watered and are alive. I still can't believe that the energy in between us is getting better and better, but I guess that's what being a real family means."

Lacuna vocalist Cristina Scabbia offers update on next album
Lacuna Coil vocalist Cristina Scabbia offered a video update to www.empty-spiral.com:
“We learned so much from making “Shallow Life” and working with a different producer it gave us a great starting point for this record. We want to bring everything we have to the table and just explore that. We’re more inspired by the dark side of life than anything else right now, and I’m pretty sure the new album will be darker and heavier because of that.
It’s still a rock sound. I like the direction we took on ‘Shallow Life’ and this is going to be in that vein. I still love metal to death, but at this point I like rock more. I like being able to bring different things that are not necessarily from metal to the album because I like the contamination between sounds. I like that music is always evolving and that you can be free to take sounds and mix them together.”
Scabbia went on to say:
“I’ve learned over the years that you cannot make everyone happy. If you stay classic, there will be some who say you’re not innovative, and if you’re innovative, people will complain that you sold out or you went off the rails. I can honestly say I don’t care anymore. We want to be free to do whatever we want. We love rock and roll and we love metal, but we don’t want to put any limitations on what we might make.”
Lacuna Coil are schedule to appear at Switzerland’s Greenfield Festival alongside Foo Fighters and System of a Down, June 9-11

Will there be an Uproar 2011 festival?
Fans have been asking us if there will be an Uproar 2011 festival. While there has been no official confirmation from tour organizers, the Uproar facebook page has been active as of late indicating their will likely be a second edition of the tour in 2011.
Now the question is what bands will comprise the bill on the hard rock festival? While there have not been any rumors surfacing on this subject we at the VDOB believe that one band rumored for last year that did not play could be in contention to land a spot on the festival.
Working on a new album for Century Media Records that should drop this summer, look for the return of Lacuna Coil. Uproar is more compatible tour for the italian rock band when compared the option of Mayhem.
Other potential candidates remain to be seen at this time. We will have an indepth look at the possible Uproar line up soon.
